The Sand Sculpting event used to be held in Frankston, one of the districts of Melbourne. In 2018, it moved to the Boneo Maze, about an hour drive from Melbourne. Known today as Dino in Sand, the event takes place at Boneo Discovery Park. Sand sculptures usually take over the area at the height of the Australian summer (December-April).

Opening daily from the 26th of December 2013 to 27th of April 2014 , this anticipated exhibition will see a mighty 3,500 tonnes of sand carved into awe-inspiring larger than life sand sculptures on the magnificent Frankston Waterfront.

Local Frankston sand is not used for the sculptures as it is unsuitable for sculpture. In the case of the Great Moments in History exhibition, builders' sand was quarried from the Graham Quarries in Langwarren, which accounts for its orangey colour. I thoroughly recommend a visit to the Great Moments in History exhibition in Frankston.
